The Jacksonville Bicycle Coalition 2011 Year in Blogging

January 2, 2012

I’d like to deem 2011 the year of the bicycle advocate. Let’s reap the benefits of our labors (continue to labor) and make 2012 the year of the bicycle here in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. You see, now that the city is more aware of the great numbers we cyclists boast here in Duval, we’re hoping our advocacy can start evolving into actual real live changes, including more awareness of cyclists, more acceptance of us, and the creation of more infrastructure so that citizens may have a choice about what form of transportation they can use to get around town.

Here’s to another year in progress. The wheels of change are in steadfast revolution.

Doh! Sorry, Johnny. I didn’t know it needed a password. Well, all in all the report was pretty neat. At least in my opinion. I guess it’s not going to be terribly impressive to most folks ;)

Here’s what most of it says:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,500 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

In 2011, there were 39 new posts, not bad for the first year! There were 103 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 113mb. That’s about 2 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was September 9th with 451 views. The most popular post that day was Five fellow Duval cyclists and friends of the JBC struck by vehicles within three days. Two of them, JBC members..

The top referring sites in 2011 were:

Some visitors came searching, mostly for jacksonville bicycle coalition, sam bellett, jacksonville bike coalition, jax bike coalition, and henry john woodcock.

Most visitors came from The United States. Russia & Germany were not far behind.

These are the posts that got the most views in 2011:

1 Five fellow Duval cyclists and friends of the JBC struck by vehicles within three days. Two of them, JBC members. 4 comments September 2011
    2 Survey 6 comments
    3 Members 4 comments
4 Regular bike rides & events in Jacksonville. 1 comment July 2011
    5 Harassment 6 comments

That’s basically it. We’ll be sure to make more blog posts in 2012 :)
